Another Yoga Retreat in Italy! Yes Yes Yes!
Journey into the heart and culture of Italy and immerse yourself into yoga, art, beauty and cuisine.
With a smile as wide as the sky I’m announcing my 2016 “Full Moon in Toscana,” yoga immersion. This retreat is held in a souful 17th century castle and villa on Etruscan estate land called Fattoria Palazzo di Piero. With over 600 acres of productive olive groves, vineyards, wooded stands of oak and pine, hidden ponds and creeks, it makes for a peaceful getaway. Up a long oak-lined drive sits The Castle, built in 1599, complete with medieval loggia, bell tower and fresco-lined chapel. Grand living rooms and dining hall spaces in the old Tuscan style serve as a perfect location for guests to come together to gather, eat, practice yoga, meditate & immerse in the beauty of the land. This is the same perfect location at our 2015 retreat. Yes we loved it so much we are happily returning!
Outside you may play and restore al fresco in the Italian gardens, full of rare and exotic trees and beautiful swimming pool. Retreat guests have the option of private or shared comfortable bedrooms in the Castle’s sleeping quarters. There are plenty of spaces to spread out and sink into castle life. The sprawling estate offers much in the way of privacy and solitude.
During retreat we suggest you plan your longer day trips to Florence, Siena or Rome either before or after the retreat. Spending time at the castle, settling in and giving yourself the luxury to restore and immerse in yoga and wellness is highly recommended. Visiting the ancient Etruscan villages such as Pienza, San Gmignano, Montepulciano, Chiusi and Sarteano is within reach by car, 20-60 minutes away.
Fattoria Palazzo di Piero is located just 2 km from Sarteano and 4 km from Chianciano. Guests will be provided transportation by shuttle bus from the Rome airport on Sept. 10.
Guests arriving by air from North America, the U.K. or other, should purchase a plane ticket coming into Rome di Fumicino – Leonardo da Vinci International airport.
The castle is a working farm and produces completely organic wine and extra virgin olive oil. Both are considered strictly Tuscan, following traditional procedures and seeing the process through from the growth of the olives and grapes until bottling. With over 2500 olive trees and rapidly growing vineyards around the castle, the property has become a large contributor to the Agrituristo business in the last decade. Guests will have the opportunity throughout their stay to learn all about traditional Tuscan methods used in producing the area’s oils and wines.
Whenever possible, meals will be served outdoors.
Every morning after a deep immersion into yoga, guests will feast on a bountiful Italian-style breakfast complete with healthy protein options, fresh fruit and yogurt, freshly baked croissants, breads, jams, cereal, and a lovely selection of coffees, teas and juices.
Each evening, you will be invited to gather for an enticing 3-course Tuscan meal, lovingly prepared by our amazing In-House Chefs. Special food requests are available. Vegetarian options are available. Wine tasting is included.
I’ll be teaching classes every morning and most afternoons. We begin our retreat with a truly restorative class to recover from jet lag. Personal instruction and health coaching will be provided to you as needed. During the evening I plan to lead guided meditations, fire ceremony and rituals. All levels are welcome and encouraged to open mind-body-spirit to the practice of yoga. Loving-kindness meditations will be part of our daily practice. There will be a beautiful full moon ceremony and delights for our final night, September 16. Would love to see YOU there!
